What is being studied?
• The rate of COVID-19 infection
• Risk factors for infection (occupational and community)
• Antibody levels over time
• Uptake of vaccines against COVID-19
• Psychological impact of working during a pandemic
Who can participate?
STAFF working at an acute care, rehabilitation, or complex care hospital in the Calgary Health Zone:
• Who are 18-75 years of age
• Who work anywhere in the institution for more than 20 hours per week
OR - is a physician, nurse practitioner, or midwife with an independent practice who cares for patients 8 hours or more per week in the institution
• Who have access to a computer or phone with internet access, and
• Who plan to be available at least for the next 3 months
What is required?
• Questionnaires when you join and then every week (online)
• When (if) tested for COVID-19: report results, symptoms, and contact with ill people (online)
• Self-collect blood spot samples:
- when you join, in 6 months, and at the end of the study;
- if you test positive for COVID-19: 30 days after your test; and
- before receiving each dose of COVID-19 vaccine and again 30 days after your final dose
Participation is voluntary
Participants will be provided with a small token of appreciation for taking part in the study.
People are welcome to join whether or not they have been vaccinated against COVID-19.
